Welcome to My Blog: A Documentation of My Health Journey.

Dec. 18, 2024

Hello and welcome! I’m so excited to start this blog to talk about all things related to nutrition, fitness and any other things that feel help you feel your best. Whether you’re someone looking for motivation, practical tips, or just a place to feel supported, you’ve come to the right space.

My Health Journey So Far

Like many, my journey hasn’t been a straight path. As a 34-year-old mom of a toddler, life has been challenging to say the least. Between balancing work, family, and self-care, my health often took a back seat, especially after becoming a mom. Two years postpartum, I’ve come to realize that taking care of myself isn’t just for me—it’s also for my family and everyone I love.

In order to prioritize my health, I quit my job in July 2024 and I’ve been focussing on building habits that will help me feel more energized, less stressful and be more present with my family. Key habits include going to the gym and/or working out regularly (2 times with a personal trainer, 3-5 times overall), working with a nutritionist and dietician and working with a therapist. While I am proud of the changes I’ve made, I think I have a long way to go. More on that in the next section.

Through the years, I’ve experienced my fair share of struggles: navigating fluctuating energy levels, managing stress, struggling with binge eating, and finding a balance between nutrition and fitness that works for my lifestyle. However, having a kid has amplified some of these struggles because you remove the time you can allocate to yourself. But those challenges have led me to this point: a commitment to becoming my healthiest, happiest self in a way that requires the minimum amount of effort in the long term. I want to help other do the same as well.

My Goals for 2025

The upcoming year is about setting intentions and achieving sustainable progress. Here are some of my health and fitness goals for 2025:

  1. Strength Training (min 3 times a week): I want to focus on building strength, improving mobility, and increasing overall energy. Whether it’s hitting my personal best or simply feeling strong in my day-to-day life, strength training will be key.
  2. Run a 5k in 30 minutes: I run for cardio and I am trying to get better at it. When I run outdoors it takes me around 42 minutes to run (sometimes walk) 3 miles and I am dead by the end of it. I want to keep improving there.
  3. Nutrition that Fuels My Body: I currently eat healthy about 70% of the time however there are opportunities to improve especially my gut health and sugar cravings. I will share more specific nutrition goals in later posts.
  4. Mindful Living: Mental and emotional wellness are just as important as physical health. I want to start journaling, daily meditation/visualization to allow me to take the time to slow down, I want to embrace a more mindful and intentional lifestyle.

What You Can Expect

This blog will be a space where I share:

  • My personal fitness journey: wins, setbacks, and lessons along the way.
  • Nutrition tips, balanced recipes, and meal plans that are realistic for busy schedules.
  • Workouts and fitness challenges that you can try at home or in the gym.
  • Honest conversations about motherhood, health, and self-care.

I want this to be a community where we can inspire and uplift one another. Whether you’re at the start of your journey or somewhere in the middle, know that you’re not alone—and you’re capable of so much more than you think.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you’ll stick around as we grow, sweat, and nourish ourselves together in 2025. Let’s make this year one of strength, health, and happiness—one day at a time!

Here’s to a healthier, stronger us!

With love and determination,

Sushma
